On charges of receiving a bribe in a particularly large amount of $ 2,500, a judge of the court of general jurisdiction of the Kotayk region of Armenia was detained.According to the Prosecutor General's Office, as a result of activities carried out by the National Security Service, data were obtained on a judge's request for a bribe on a particularly large scale for committing certain actions in favor of a person within their authority.
As a result of the operational-search measures under the control of the National Security Service officers, a bribe was handed over to the judge through the complicit lawyer, after which the amount received from the latter was discovered and taken away by the National Security Service.In connection with the receipt of a bribe by the judge in especially large amounts, complicity and bribery in especially large amounts under paragraphs 2 and 3 of Part 4 of Article 311, paragraphs 2 and 3 of Part 4 of Article 38-311 and paragraph 1 of Part 3 of Article 312 of the RA Criminal Code A criminal case was opened in the investigation department of the RA National Security Service, which was sent to the Special Investigation Service for a preliminary investigation.
Prosecutor General Artur Davtyan, on the basis of the facts gathered in this criminal case, came to the conclusion that, while at large, this judge may be hiding from the body conducting the criminal proceedings. To avoid such a situation, Davtyan appealed to the Supreme Judicial Council with a request to institute criminal proceedings against the judge and agree to imprison the latter. The Supreme Judicial Council on March 29 granted both petitions of the Prosecutor General.It should be noted that, according to the media version, the judge of the court of general jurisdiction of Kotayk region Gagik Kheboyan is accused of large-scale bribery.
