ArmInfo.At the March 27 session, the RA National Assembly ratified the Armenian-Maltese intergovernmental agreement on cultural cooperation. As Deputy Minister of Culture Nazeni Gharibyan noted at the plenary session of the parliament, the agreement signed on December 7, 2017 in Vienna aims to expand and deepen bilateral cooperation in the cultural sphere, to promote the development of friendly relations based on the principles of equality and mutual understanding, and will comply with the laws of the two states.
The agreement consists of 15 clauses. It is envisaged, in particular, to carry out various programs and activities. It is about such areas as theater, in particular, opera and ballet, dance, filmmaking. It is also planned to hold concerts, festivals, exhibitions, mastery lessons, exchange of experience and retraining of specialists and teachers.
The parties intend to hold joint events on organizing the Days of Culture, protecting and maintaining the cultural and historical heritage, making book translations, and organizing cooperation between the libraries of Armenia and Malta. Both states will maintain intellectual and related rights. Funding for programs will be made on a case-by-case basis, based on their location. In order to effectively carry out activities, it is envisaged to form a joint committee, which in equal proportion will consist of representatives of the authorities of the two states. Committee meetings will be held consistently in Armenia and in Malta. The agreement will be valid for five years with the possibility of its prolongation for the same period, if the parties have no objections.
