ArmInfo.Relations between Armenia and Iran are nothing less than a "meeting place" for Christianity and Islam. And the results of the visit of the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan to the Islamic Republic have once again confirmed this. Such an opinion was expressed by ArmInfo, advisor to the first president of Armenia on issues of national security, member of the "Karabakh" committee, analyst Ashot Manucharyan.
On February 27-28, Nikol Pashinyan made his first official visit as the Prime Minister of Armenia to the Islamic Republic of Iran. The two-day agenda of the prime minister turned out to be rather intense - Pashinyan met with the highest political and spiritual leadership of the country. He held talks with President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Hassan Rouhani and Chairman of the Mejlis Ali Larijani. The Armenian Prime Minister was received by Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei. In addition to Tehran, Pashinyan visited Isfahan, where he met with the governor and the local Armenian community."Of course, the visit of the Armenian Prime Minister to Iran is very important from the point of view of deepening political and trade-economic relations.
He has an important geopolitical content and, accordingly, prospects. However, I still tend to view it in a wider, global-civilizational context. Iran Pashinyan once again recorded the fact of civilizational proximity between this neighboring country and Armenia, "he stressed. In this light, Manucharyan regards Pashinyan's visit to Iran as a step towards the continuation and deepening of a thousand-year-old dialogue between two civilizations and two religions. According to his estimates, in conditions when the centers of power concentrated in the USA and Israel are trying to draw another dividing line in the south of the region, such an initiative of Yerevan and Tehran is very important.
Thus, the analyst assesses the visit of the Armenian Prime Minister to Iran as a component of a common policy towards the exit of the rest of the countries of the Greater Middle East from regional chaos. According to his view of the situation, Armenia and Iran together are trying to find answers to the challenges and problems of a vast region.
