ArmInfo.. Armenian President Armen Sarkissian signed a draft adopted earlier by the country's parliament on amendments to the law "On individuals who did not undergo compulsory military service in the prescribed manner." This was reported by the press service of the RA President.
To recall, on March 6 the RA National Assembly in the second and final reading amended the current law. As one of the authors of the presented document, Secretary of the Bright Armenia Party faction Gevorg Gorgisyan noted the bill proposes to extend the term of the law, according to which persons who turned 27 years old before the end of 2017 were given the opportunity to pay money and return to Armenia without fear of criminal prosecution. Now it is proposed to provide such an opportunity to those persons who turned 27 years old before the end of 2018. Thus, as the main speaker pointed out the new law will boost a new wave of repatriation and offer the solution of the country's demographic problems. According to him, as of the beginning of the current year, there are about 10,900 draft evaders "on the run", and the document presented is intended to solve this problem.
