ArmInfo. Employees of the National Institute of Education of Armenia protested the decision of the Ministry of Education on the transformation of the National Institute of Education (NIE) into a fund.
In an open letter to the Prime Minister, they stressed that the NIE is one of the main structures of the education system, and it is difficult to imagine the implementation of general education without this structure. The Institute is a strategically important institution in the field of education, as it ensures the effective development of educational policy. As the authors of the letter write, the "velvet revolution" was also aimed at the development of education, at raising the current "weak, low-quality" education system to a new level, giving it a new quality.
In their opinion, the government and the Ministry are guided by the principle: "There is a structure, there is a problem, there is no structure, there is no problem". <If we start from this logic, then all the structures of the country have problems, and this is natural. Our open letter was sent to the Prime Minister of Armenia, and we expect from him a reasonable, prompt and substantiated response, "the letter says. Last year, as noted in it, despite the availability of funds, the institute was refused publication of scientific and methodological journals, and training courses were suspended.
<Is it possible to eliminate such a powerful and successful design with one shot? Who and how estimated the inefficiency of the institute, and as a result of what research was this conclusion adopted? And most importantly, what will happen to the fate of the workers after this decision. There are no government decrees yet, but the institute employees were aware that from April 1 they will no longer work>, the letter's authors resent.
At the same time, press secretary of the Minister of Education Lusine Margaryan told ArmInfo that Minister Arayik Harutyunyan is scheduled to meet with the staff of the National Institute of Education in the near future to discuss a wide range of issues and further steps towards reforming the scientific educational base. The ministry will inform the public about the results of the discussions.
