ArmInfo.On March 6, the Chairman of the National Assembly of the Artsakh Republic, Ashot Ghoulian, met with the Vice-President of the European Parliament, Sylvie Guillaume.
According to the press service of the NKR Parliament, Ghoulyan noted the importance of such meetings for representatives of European structures, and, in particular, for members of the European Parliament, as they can learn impartial and objective information about Artsakh.
In turn, Sylvie Guillaume noted the importance of updating information about Artsakh, and also stressed the importance of continuous development of relations, noting that there is great potential in this direction. During the meeting, the parties touched upon the friendship of the French and Armenian peoples, the development of democracy in Artsakh, and the need to ensure the rule of law. The interlocutors also touched upon the organization of electoral processes and the expansion of opportunities for parliamentary diplomacy.
The parties expressed readiness to develop cooperation after the upcoming elections to the European Parliament.
On the same day, the chairman of the NKR Parliament in Brussels met with members of the European Parliament. The head of the European Parliament-Armenia friendship group Eleni Theocharous noted that the meeting provides wide opportunities for exchanging views on various issues related to Artsakh.
In turn, Ashot Ghoulyan touched upon the successful experience of cooperation with the European Parliament and the federal and regional parliaments of Belgium. Ghoulyan stressed the need to maintain this cooperation after the upcoming elections to the European Parliament.
During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the right of Artsakh's people to self-determination, the peaceful settlement of the Azerbaijani-Karabakh conflict, Artsakh's participation in various EU projects, including civil society development projects.
