Thus, according to the company, on March 1, at 3:16pm local time, the  new electric train EP2D CJSC, being tested by a train driver and  passing by a machinist-instructor and returning from Gyumri to  Yerevan, was tested on a railway track by car. "The driver of the car  did not react at all to the warning signals of the electric train.  Subsequently, the driver of the car explained that he was trying to  cross the way in the wrong place. The speed of the electric train  during emergency braking was 83 km / h (with a valid 90 km / h in  this section), braking distance amounted to 393 meters. Despite the  emergency braking, collisions could not be avoided. As a result of  the incident, the SCR company suffered material damage, the volume of  which is being specified, "the company said.

In connection with the incident, the South Caucasian Railway once  again reminds that the railway is a source of increased danger and  calls for strict compliance with safety rules. With emergency braking, the stopping distance of the  passenger electric train is at least 800 meters and the freight train  at least 1 km," the SCR recalled.
