ArmInfo.Sending an Armenian humanitarian mission to Syria or to any other foreign country is legitimate. Armenian Defense Minister Davit Tonoyan said this in an interview to Public Television, commenting on the sending of the Armenian gum mission to Syria and the negative reaction of Washington to this step of Yerevan.
"One country reacts positively to our step, the other negatively, or declares that it does not support these actions, but this is a matter of time. Everything will be settled with time. Our actions are exclusively humanitarian in nature," Tonoyan concluded.
To note, in early February, the humanitarian mission of Armenia, consisting of 83 people, began its work in Aleppo. It is entrusted with the task of demining outside the combat zone, mine awareness of the population and providing medical assistance to the residents of Aleppo. The sending of a humanitarian mission to Syria by Armenia caused a negative reaction from the United States. The US Embassy issued a statement by the US State Department, in which Washington criticized this move by Yerevan. The statement also notes that Washington does not support cooperation between Armenia and Russia in the implementation of this mission.
