ArmInfo. The main issue that was discussed at my meeting with representatives of the "My Step" bloc concerned the new ministry, which should be created on the basis of the Ministry of Transport. On February 22, Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technologies of Armenia Hakob Arshakyan stated this in an interview with journalists after a meeting with representatives of the "My Step" faction.
He noted that this was an ordinary working discussion. "I presented some priorities, as well as the format in which the new ministry will be formed and its main tasks. As you know, we intend to focus on the development of high technologies and the military industry," said Arshakyan.
The minister also noted that the transport sector will be transferred to the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Territorial Administration. Arshakyan also stressed that the expression "military industry" will not be mentioned in the name of the new ministry.
In turn, the head of the faction of the My Step bloc, Lilit Makunts, noted that the meeting was quite effective. She also noted that the second meeting is likely to be open, since the public should be aware of the ministries being formed, their main goals and objectives.
"Minister Arshakyan presented us with steps, as well as his own vision of how high technologies can be useful for the development of the country. In particular, how can we develop the economy through existing companies and startups, how to turn them into large companies," Makunts said.
The head of the My Step faction also said that new legislative initiatives would soon appear in this area. "It was presented exactly what investments and tax collections were made over the past seven years in this area," Makunts summed up.
