"The ANCA_DC welcomes President Trump's nomination of David Satterfield for US Ambassador to Turkey as a long overdue and very badly needed opportunity for serious Senate oversight of the weak US response to Ankara's increasingly anti-American actions", ANCA statement posted on Twitter noted. Earlier, US President Donald Trump nominated the candidacy Assistant Secretary of State for the Middle East Affairs David Satterfield for the post of US Ambassador to Turkey. However, for the final appointment to this position, Satterfield needs to enlist support in the Senate.
David Satterfield (born December 18, 1954) is known as one of the most professional diplomats in the US State Department. Since 1980, Satterfield has held various positions in the Middle East. At one of the meetings in the framework of the Astana process on Syria, he was present as an observer from the United States. During the reign of Barack Obama, Satterfield held the post of general director of the Multinational Force and Observers, who were responsible for maintaining peace on the Sinai Peninsula.
