ArmInfo.The Prosecutor General's Office of Armenia revealed another case of abuse, this time at the Yerevan State Institute of Theatre and Cinematography (YSITC).
According to the materials of the case, university officials from 2012 to the present day, using their authority for mercenary motives, forged official documents and committed fraud on a large scale.
In particular, in the period from 2012-2016 the acting rectors of YSITC alternately, by their orders, appointed vice-rectors for inter-university work and international cooperation as a lecturer in English. However, the latter, in fact, did not fulfill the duties imposed on him by the order of an English teacher, nevertheless, receiving a salary of 3,500,410 drams for this period, which was appropriated by the university management.
In fact, on September 14, 2018, a criminal case was opened in the Armenian police on Article 179, part 3 (Assignment or embezzlement on a large scale). On February 8, 2019, former rector of the YSITC D. M., he was charged with two crime episodes stipulated by part 1 of Article 308 of the RA Criminal Code. In relation to the latter, a preventive measure was chosen - a recognizance not to leave. On February 11, 2019, another former rector of the same institute was charged under clause 1 of part 3 of Article 179 of the RA Criminal Code. In relation to the latter, a preventive measure was chosen - a recognizance not to leave. The latter, on February 15, 2019, was invited to the Prosecutor's Office of the Kentron and Nork Marash administrative districts, where he was offered to compensate for the damage caused to the interests of the state voluntarily. As a result, on February 16, according to the payment order of administrative districts, he transferred 3,500 410 drams to the deposit account of the prosecutor's office, thereby restoring the damage caused to the state. The preliminary investigation is ongoing.
