ArmInfo.Lawyers of the second president of Armenia Robert Kocharyan will appeal the court's decision to extend the arrest of the former president to the Court of Cassation, Kocharyan's attorney Hayk Alumyan said. in an interview with journalists on February 7.
According to him, in the near future another complaint will be sent to the European Court of Human Rights, besides a lawsuit will be filed with the Court of Cassation. Alumyan noted that there is no legal component in this case. "It was an exclusively political decision, and the second president once again had the opportunity to make sure that political persecution was being carried out against him," he stressed.
Earlier, Kocharyan's lawyer Ruben Sahakyan noted that he demands the release of the ex-president from the Court of Appeal, as he is inviolable and there is no sound evidence to support his guilt. It should be noted that the Court of Appeal of Armenia upheld the decision of the court of general jurisdiction to extend the arrest of Robert Kocharyan. Robert Kocharyan is accused of overthrowing the Constitutional system in the framework of the March 1, 2008 case.
