ArmInfo. Due to differences in the legal systems of Armenia and Russia, the rights of RA citizens temporarily residing in the territory of the Russian Federation are sometimes insufficiently protected and these issues are periodically considered by Human Rights Defenders in both countries.
A tripartite meeting between the Ombudsmen of the Republic of Armenia and the Russian Federation Arman Tatoyan and Tatyana Moskalkova was held in Moscow today with the participation of the Chairman of the Eurasian Economic Commission Tigran Sargsyan, which addressed a number of issues related to the rights of Armenian migrants in Russia.
As ArmInfo was told in the office of the Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Armenia, the meeting noted the need to resolve issues related to the exercise of labor, social, medical, pension, educational and other rights by citizens. Issues related to restrictions on the use of medical services or social packages, problems related to labor law, decisions about extradition from the country, issues of children's education in secondary schools and preschool institutions, etc. were considered.
The issues of protecting the rights of Russians living in Armenia were also discussed. The parties agreed that within the framework of membership in the EAEU, one of the key priorities of the work of the Eurasian Economic Commission is ensuring human rights and freedoms through the harmonization of relevant legislation and the elimination of contradictions. Tigran Sargsyan expressed gratitude to Arman Tatoyan and Tatyana Mosalkova for the full support of the Eurasian Commission`s activities on creating equal working conditions for the workers of the countries - members of the integration Union.
During the meeting, the parties outlined specific areas and programs for further work.
