ArmInfo. The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) welcomes the ability of Armenia to cope with the consequences of a change of power by peaceful means and in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution. This is stated in the resolution of the PACE winter session on the basis of the report of Roger Gale, who presented an assessment of the progress of the countries to be monitored.
PACE calls on the Armenian authorities after the elections to resume reforms in key areas, such as combating domestic violence, voter buying and abuse of administrative resources during elections. The organization also calls for the investigation of criminal, including those related to the tragic events of March 2008, corruption. At the same time, PACE stresses the need for a strict investigation in accordance with the principles of the rule of law, justice, and independence of the judiciary. The report also presents in detail the latest events in Armenia.
