ArmInfo. To correct mistakes, one should not take the opposite steps, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said, answering the question whether the decision of the previous authorities of the country to join the EEU was correct.
"You know that when I was a MP, I was against membership in the EAEU. After that, I repeatedly said that if we thought something was wrong, it does not mean that we need to take opposite steps to correct the mistake," he said.
As an example, he cited the position of former US President Barack Obama on Iraq. "Barack Obama believed that George W. Bush did wrong when he sent troops to Iraq. He decided to do the opposite, withdraw the troops from Iraq. And what we got is the Islamic State ... The fact is that Armenia is a member of the EAEU. . I do not think that sharp turns are useful in diplomacy. Our efforts are now aimed at making the EAEU more efficient; the same applies to the CSTO. We are doing everything possible to make Armenia's membership in the EEU more efficient, useful and promising, "Pashinyan concluded.
