ArmInfo. In order to unload the ground transportation in Yerevan, a new cable way will be built. Chief architect of Yerevan, Artur Meschyan, stated this at a press conference on January 24.
He noted that it is necessary to build a multi-module cable way with cabs for 12-14 places. "Since today we are not able to stretch the metro line to the Nork massif, the cable way will be the best solution to this issue," Meschyan said.
It is planned to build two stations in the city center, however, due to overly dense construction, it is not yet possible to find a suitable place. According to Meschyan, negotiations are underway with Italian and Swiss investors to build the cableway. He said that four companies had expressed interest, and a tender would be held.
At the same time, continuing the topic related to the metropolitan, the chief architect of Yerevan said that a project was being prepared to hold the metro line to the Ajapnyak administrative district, and this project would be submitted to the government. Subsequently, according to him, the metro branch can be stretched to Davitashen. "We are preparing a project with the necessary architectural solutions, as well as calculations. The metro is not just ordinary transport, but rather a strategic object. 150 million have already been spent on the line in Ajapnyak. However, the metro is the type of transport that always pays off." Meschyan, adding that there are already investors and in general, the system has been developed. The chief architect added that the implementation of these two projects is very realistic.
To note, the construction of the metro station in Ajapnyak was begun in Soviet times, a tunnel was opened from the station Barekamutyun to the gorge of the river Hrazdan.
