ArmInfo. The Armenian government is actually formed, its structure is being discussed and will be changed within a month, Prime Minister of RA Nikol Pashinyan told RIA Novosti at the World Economic Forum.
"It has actually already been formed. We are planning to change the structure of the government, now we are having discussions on this issue, we will have a structure change. Within a month (complete the change - Ed.)," he said.
Earlier, the Cabinet of Ministers proposed a draft amendment to the law on the structure and activities of the government, which would reduce the number of ministries from 17 to 12. According to the draft law developed by the government, the ministry of energy infrastructures and natural resources, as well as the transport sector of the ministry of transport, communications and information technologies into the new ministry of territorial administration and infrastructures. On the basis of the Ministry of Transport and Communications it is envisaged to create a ministry of high technologies and military industry. In addition, it is planned to unite the Ministry of Economic Development and Agriculture. A single ministry will oversee the education, science, culture, sports and youth affairs. It is planned to completely abolish the Ministry of Diaspora, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will perform its functions.
To note, this project has already managed to receive criticism from expert and social and political circles. Some argue that there is no logic in the reforms being carried out, others point to the social aspect of the issue, given that several thousand government employees will be reduced. In response, head of government Nikol Pashinyan noted that he was talking about optimizing the public sector before the elections, and with this in mind, the people gave him a vote of confidence to carry out the planned reforms.
