ArmInfo. According to preliminary calculations, "Nairi Insurance" LLC caused damage to the state in the amount of 200 million drams (about $ 415 thousand), the State Revenue Committee (SRC) of Armenia informs.
As reported by the press service of the Tax and Customs Committee, within the framework of the cooperation of the Investigation Department of the SRC and the General Directorate on Combating Organized Crime (GDCOC) of the RA Police on the detection of corruption crimes, a case of tax evasion on a large scale was revealed.
Employees of GDCOC found out that the management of Nairi Insurance prepared insurance policies with beneficiaries on behalf of various insurance intermediaries, writing out commission fees for this. Individual entrepreneurs who acted as insurance intermediaries turned out to be former employees of Nairi Insurance, as well as other persons interconnected with the company. The latter did not actually carry out insurance activities, but in their names, as a commission for intermediary services for concluding insurance contracts, Nairi Insurance transferred amounts on a particularly large scale.
"As a result in its report for 2016-2017, Nairi Insurance included those transfers for intermediary services in expenses, thereby reducing the taxable income in the relevant amount, which, according to preliminary calculations, caused 200 million drams damage to the state (without fines and penalties) ", the statement of the SRC reads. Based on the fact, a criminal case has been initiated in the RA Police Department on grounds of part 2, Article 205 (evasion of taxes, duties, or other obligatory payments) of the Criminal Code of Armenia. The preliminary investigation of the case continues, the necessary actions are taken to clarify the circle of persons of the alleged crime, clarify the final extent of the damage caused to the state, and transfer these funds to the state budget.
