ArmInfo. Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia Armen Grigoryan had a telephone conversation with Assistant to the President - Secretary of the Security Council of Kazakhstan Gabit Bayzhanov. This was reported in the press service of the Security Council of Armenia. Grigoryan and Bayzhanov exchanged views on the situation in Karaganda, in which Armenians were also involved. Grigoryan expressed condolences to the relatives and friends of the deceased young man.
The Secretaries of the Security Councils of the two countries noted the inadmissibility of attempts to present the incident as an inter-ethnic issue. Grigoryan and Bayzhanov stressed the importance of a comprehensive and transparent investigation of the tragedy, as well as the need to bring to justice all the perpetrators of the crime exclusively within the framework of the law. At the same time, the importance of continuous coordination of the relevant departments of the two countries was stressed.
On the night of January 1, a fight took place in the restaurant "Ancient Rome" in the city of Karaganda. As a result of the incident, a 23-year-old resident was killed, three more were injured. The deadly scuffle in Kazakhstan has become a fertile ground for inciting ethnic hatred and the spread of misinformation. Three Armenians were involved in it. According to the latest data, 7 people were detained on the fact of fighting and murder, five of them were arrested. Armenian Narek Gururyan, who was on the wanted list, declared his readiness to surrender. He also said that he was not involved in the murder.
