ArmInfo. The creation of the Eurasian Economic Union is a truly historic event, the EAEU took place despite various pessimistic forecasts and solves the main tasks that are set for it.
The Russian Ambassador to Armenia Sergey Kopyrkin stated this at the fifth annual meeting of the Eurasian Expert Club, the conference "Four years of Armenia's participation in the EAEU: the realities and prospects of Eurasian integration". According to the diplomat, the EAEU provides adequate responses to the challenges of the 21st century, economic turbulence, various global problems and crises.
"The Union has already proved its worth," the ambassador assured. Referring to Armenia's membership in the structure, Kopyrkin stated that the republic's accession to the Eurasian Economic Union contributed to its economic development. Thus, the diplomat noted that in 2017, the GDP growth in Armenia amounted to 7.5%, exports to the EAEU countries increased by more than 43% and amounted to $ 2 billion. "Armenia has everything necessary for further integration and cooperation with other states of the Eurasian space, including technology centers.
"The country has great potential and all the possibilities of high-tech products and the development of high technologies," said Kopyrkin. The ambassador of Kazakhstan to Armenia Timur Urazaev agreed with the opinion of the Russian colleague, while stressing that 4 years in the EAEU is not so much, but the positive statistics speak for themselves. At the same time, the diplomat noted that Kazakhstan is studying in detail the opinions and assessments voiced from Armenia. "And our close relations with the republic make it possible to talk about mistakes, analyze them and do work on them. We can talk about our unfulfilled opportunities a lot and often, but we cannot but focus on the official data of statistical services. And we cannot help to see that Armenia's exports grew with stable economic growth, and this indicates that it is the EAEU that provides this opportunity, and no one can do anything with these figures, "Urzaev said, noting that, despite complaints about the absence of very close about relations, the numbers speak for themselves.According to him, official statistics which year already shows the presence of specific movements. Thus, the total trade turnover between Armenia and Kazakhstan each year records growth, and only in the first 10 months of this year it doubled compared with last year. Moreover, the ambassador noted that not a single section of the closed Armenian border had been opened.Urzayev noted that the growth could have been more significant if not for a number of objective factors - the lack of efficient logistics, the small market of Armenia and the specificity of the market of Kazakhstan. At the same time, the diplomat expressed confidence that the economies of the EAEU countries have a good future. "The main thing is to competently use the opportunities and opportunities that Eurasian integration opens up for countries," he concluded.
