ArmInfo. "I am ready at any convenient time for the Prime Minister of Armenia to come there and meet with him, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Minister of Defense, to discuss those issues or problems that they see in the organization's activities, and continue to work, including on these problems. State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus Stanislav Zas stated this after a meeting with President Alexander Lukashenko, answering the question whether a meeting with the leadership of Armenia is planned, BelTA informs.
He noted that he hopes that he will be appointed to the post of CSTO Secretary General by consensus. According to him, the CSTO charter provides for a procedure for making decisions in a limited format, when not every country agrees with this or that issue. But I hope that, nevertheless, consensus will be reached and the questions that now stand will be removed. This option will be the best and useful for business. We need to overcome these disagreements and continue to launch normal work", said Stanislav Zas.
The presidents of Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Russia have already agreed upon the Belarusian candidature for the post of the CSTO Secretary General. Stanislav Zas visited all of these countries and met with each of the heads of state.
"The meetings were positive in terms of tone and character, effective and useful to me personally. It is advisable to introduce such a scheme into practice when a person applying for the post of general secretary of the military-political bloc meets with all heads of state, "the state secretary said. Stanislav Zas said that during conversations with the leaders of the CSTO countries he heard how they assess the situation in the region and the activities of the organization itself, and what issues they expect to solve in the near future. "Not all formalities are completed. I think that during the remaining days or in the first days of next year all the legal formalities will be observed and work will begin in the new position, "Stanislav Zas added.
A spokesman for Armenia's Acting Prime Minister Arman Eghoyan did not want to comment on the draft decision of the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, on appointing Zas to the post of CSTO Secretary General. "One and the same question cannot be commented on every time, we have already addressed this topic," said Eghoyan. To recall, earlier Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that the issue of the CSTO Secretary General was not resolved, because there was no meeting of the organization.
