ArmInfo. The year 2018 is characterized by unprecedented tight control over the quality of road construction. Acting Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technologies of the Republic of Armenia Hakob Arshakyan announced this on December 20 at the government meeting.
According to him, as a result of the laboratory studies, asphalt was re-laid on numerous road sections for a total amount of about 300 million drams. The Acting minister stressed that tightening control over the quality of road construction is obvious, but not enough. In this regard, it is planned to introduce new institutional control mechanisms that will solve the existing problem. In particular, it is envisaged next year to develop and implement a digital map in which all information on projects, contractors, the amount of contracts, their actual expenditure, etc. will be presented. The introduction of maps will allow you to have a complete idea, first of all, about contractors. The most persistent violators of road construction norms will be blacklisted and will not be allowed to enter the tender procedures. "It is also planned to redistribute the roads to red, yellow and green. Another solution will be the maintenance of roads," Hakob Arshakyan said, without detailing the upcoming innovations.
In turn, Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashiyan stated that there should be no compromise on the quality of road construction. "If instead of 10 years, the road has been operated for only five years, it is obvious that poor work was done on it," Nikol Pashinyan said, calling for special attention to be given to this area, since this is a strategically important issue.
