ArmInfo.A monument to the great French chansonnier of Armenian origin, Charles Aznavour, will be erected in Moscow.
According to ''Moscow Komsomolets'', the musical compositions by chansonnier Charles Aznavour may soon be heard from the Moscow International House of Music in Zamoskvorechye, if the monument to the performer appears in the courtyard of the institution. For now the city authorities are conducting a survey among residents, where it is better to install a monument to the musician: on the Kosmodamianskaya Embankment or in the Zaryadye Park. As the President of the Javakhq Diaspora in the Russian Federation, Aghasi Arabian, said, the idea of a monument in the city center was approved in the Moscow City Duma. But, in order to finally decide on a sketch, one of the two locations should be chosen. The monument itself will be made of bronze and at the expense of the Armenian community's funds. "If we are given a place in the courtyard of the house of music, then we are considering the idea to turn on Aznavour's compositions every hour or several times a day for a few minutes," Arabian comments. Aznavour spent all his childhood in a Russian environment, his parents spoke Russian and he loved to come to Moscow. This monument will become a place of attraction and a symbol of Russian-French, Russian-Armenian and multiethnic friendship in general. "As the head of the Tverskoy municipal district, Yakov Yakubovich, noted, the idea of erecting monuments to musicians at the Zaryadye concert hall is not new. Earlier on this place it was proposed to establish a figure of Dmitry Khvorostovsky. Now the council of deputies of the district is considering the idea of organizing an alley of composers and singers at this place.
