ArmInfo. Reports of irregularities during the extraordinary parliamentary elections mainly come from the media, and not from proxies or members of polling stations. This was reported on December 9 at a briefing by member of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Armenia Georgy Martirosyan.
According to him, the Electoral Code provides for numerous mechanisms for monitoring the electoral process. Surveillance cameras were installed at 1,500 polling stations, which, on the one hand, provides an opportunity to control the course of elections, and on the other hand, allows citizens, without leaving home, to monitor the electoral process.
In comparison with the previous elections, the presence of two candidates at the same time at the polling station is now allowed instead of one earlier. Monitoring is also carried out by observers and the media. All this allows for tight control over the elections from beginning to end. As a result, the number of violations is minimized.
The representative of the CEC expressed the hope that this trend will continue in the counting of votes. "There are no serious violations, and if everything goes on like this, we will get a good result," the CEC representative noted.
