ArmInfo. This court decision is a consequence of a political decision, which was taken under pressure from the authorities. This is stated in the statement of the second President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan, Head of Kocharyan's Office Viktor Soghomonyan said at a press conference today.
In particular, the statement reads: "The mere fact that the prosecution was represented by 6 prosecutors under the leadership of the RA Prosecutor General is an unprecedented phenomenon in the new history of Armenia. The judge in this case was elected with a gross violation of the law, and the pro-governmental press not waiting the court decision has already spread publications that I will be arrested. Everything that happens is a political vendetta, which was also proved by the well-known recordings of the wiretapping of of the heads of the National Security Service and the Special Investigation Service, as well as the heads of the National Security Service and the Prime Minister."
In addition, the statement of the second president also states: "My experience and the attitude towards me in Armenia, Artsakh and the Diaspora, as well as my political perspectives, continue to concern the current authorities who are not able to govern the country. In addition, the one, who is responsible for the events of March 1, 2008, is trying in every possible way to wash off the blood and present me as guilty. I am sure that sooner or later I will achieve freedom. In addition, I am sure that all those who carried out persecutions and harassment against the person who ruled Armenia and Artsakh in the most difficult period for the two countries, will be punished to the fullest extent of the law. I believe that it will happen soon. I am ready to continue the political struggle, no one will break my spirit and my determination. " To note, today the Armenian Court of Appeal decided to arrest the second President of the Republic of Armenia, Robert Kocharyan, on charges of overthrowing the constitutional system in the framework of the March 1, 2008 case. Earlier, the same court revised the decision of the court of first instance to arrest Kocharyan and released him, based on the fact that the second president enjoys constitutional immunity. However, at the suit of the Prosecutor General's Office of Armenia, the Court of Cassation returned the case to the Court of Appeal for further examination.
