ArmInfo. Day of December 7 in Armenia will be commemorated as the Day of Remembrance for the Victims of Earthquakes and Resistance to Disasters. Amendments to the law "On holidays and anniversaries" were made at an extraordinary retreat of the government on December 7.
Presenting the draft amendments, the Acting Minister of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Armenia Feliks Tsolakyan stressed that the current version of the current law after the words "Day of Remembrance of the Earthquake Victims" is proposed to be added with the words "and resisting disasters." The document in the established order will be sent for approval by the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia. The Acting Minister stressed that the earthquake on December 7, 1988 killed more than 25 thousand people, 140 thousand became disabled, 500 thousand lost their homes over their heads. From the very first days of the tragedy, the world community extended a helping hand to the republic.
