ArmInfo. On December 6, Armenian President Armen Sarkissian received a delegation led by the Vice President of the Senate of the Italian Republic Paola Taverna, who is in Armenia due to the extraordinary parliamentary elections in the OSCE PA observer group.
According to the presidential press service, noting that today Armenia is in the phase of major changes, President Sarkissian stressed progress in strengthening democracy in the country and expressed confidence that the elections will be free and fair.
The interlocutors discussed the Armenian-Italian relations and came to the conclusion that they are developing successfully.
President Sarkissian noted that he is optimistic about the future development of Armenian-Italian relations. He stressed the enormous potential for expanding cooperation in the economic and cultural fields. Noting that some Italian companies are already working in Armenia, and several companies are showing interest in our country, President Sarkissian said that Armenia, a member of the Eurasian Economic Union, could become a bridge between the European Union and the Eurasian Economic Union, which opens up new opportunities for entrepreneurs and investors.
