ArmInfo. The policy pursued by the current authorities is based on the principle - power at the expense of Artsakh. This was stated on December 4 at a press conference by the candidate of the Republican Party of Armenia David Shahnazaryan.
He noted that several months after the revolution, the new authorities charged the General Secretary of the CSTO, Yuri Khachaurov, and many thought that this was the result of the inexperience of the new authorities, but in his opinion, in fact, this was one of the manifestations of the anti-Artsakh policy. "However, it was obvious to me even then that the matter was not inexperience, it was another political move by the new authorities. However, the result was very deplorable, we lost this post," Shahnazaryan stressed.
The candidate also noted that in a situation when Azerbaijan is preparing for war, such a move by Armenia was very rash. "All the assurances that Armenia will defend its rights to this post are just a lie," Shahnazaryan assured.
Another failure of the current authorities' policy, Shahnazaryan considered the actual ousting from the agenda of negotiations the agreements reached in Vienna, St. Petersburg and Geneva on the implementation of confidence building measures in the Karabakh conflict zone, the use of incident investigation mechanisms and the exchange of prisoners. "But now this agenda has been lost for us, which is a serious blunder of the Armenian side", the candidate stressed.
He noted that during Serzh Sargsyan's presidency, the position of the authorities on Nagorno-Karabakh was as follows - status i exchange of territory. "That is, the conclusion of a peace treaty with Azerbaijan, which will include all issues, including security issues. And Nikol Pashinyan during the UN General Assembly stated that for him the main thing is the status and security of Artsakh. When we separate these two concepts (status and security - ed. note) this means that, in addition to status, there can also be other security guarantees. This is another blunder of the new authorities, "the politician said. The MP candidate from the RPA also noted that the new authorities are in fact agreeing on those options for resolving the conflict, which the international community periodically offers. "Under the previous authorities, Armenia and the European Union signed an Agreement on a Comprehensive and Expanded Partnership, in which the Helsinki principles were fixed - force not applicable, the right of peoples to self-determination and the principle of territorial integrity. The same agreement should have been signed with Azerbaijan, but recently it became known that the document signed with Azerbaijan establishes convenient language for Baku. A similar departure of the European Union from the previous wording indicates the failure of the European direction of the Armenian diplomacy, however, it is not too late to try to intervene and correct the situation, but I doubt that the current government wants this ", the candidate from the Republican Party concluded.
