According to him, the representative of Armenia is ready to continue to fulfill the duties of the CSTO Secretary General. "Armenia is ready to continue to fulfill the duties of the CSTO secretary. That is, to appoint a new representative (for this post - ed.)", Tonoyan said.
As indicated by the Acting Minister of Defense of Armenia, today there is no procedure within the Organization in case the Secretary General's activities are terminated before the end of the term. "We need such a procedure, it is not spelled out," Tonoyan said.
Answering the question of whether problems in the CSTO (existing in the Organization, in the opinion of the Armenian Prime Minister) serve as a pretext for Armenia's withdrawal from the Organization, the acting Minister said: "I haven't heard about such a problem that may be a prerequisite for Armenia's withdrawal from the CSTO, there are no such prerequisites neither geopolitical, nor military-political, nor strategic". "Armenia is the co-founder of this organization and the discussion of the problematic issues of the CSTO, is usual practice ", Tonoyan said.
Earlier, Armenia early recalled its representative as the CSTO Secretary General Yuri Khachaturov, his deputy Valery Semerikov became acting member. At the same time, Yerevan insists that the leadership post should remain with Armenia until 2020.
