Specialized investigators of Investigative Committee of Armenia will  deal with electoral crimes

ArmInfo. Specialized investigators of the Investigative Committee of Armenia will  investigate criminal cases on the facts of crimes against electoral  rights, the press service of the RA Investigations reports.

The corresponding draft decision on making amendments and additions  to the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of April 26, 2018 was  approved on November 29 at a meeting of the RA Government.  "The  adoption of the project is aimed at creating a specialized unit  within the IC, which deals with the investigation of crimes against  suffrage, and is due to the peculiarities of the investigation and  qualification of crimes related to electoral processes, as well as  the need to align the nominal index and the staff of the Committee  with the legislative basis the provisions of the law RA of the  Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia, "- said in a  statement.

By adopting a draft decision, the Office for the Investigation of  General Crimes of the General Directorate for the Investigation of  Especially Important Cases of the Central Office of the Investigative  Committee will be renamed the Office for the Investigation of General  Crimes and Offenses against Electoral Rights.  "The establishment of  the Office will allow the investigation of criminal cases on the  facts of crimes against electoral law on the part of specialized  investigators," the report reads.
