ArmInfo. I hope that under any government of Armenia, Armenian-Russian relations will develop. On November 30, the first deputy chairman of the Russian State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs and Relations with Compatriots Konstantin Zatulin told reporters in an interview with journalists in Yerevan on the margins of the first plenary session of the Lazarev Club, answering the question of whether or not how he sees the future of Armenian-Russian relations.
According to him, today is an important moment when, due to a number of circumstances, formally friendly relations develop into trust. At the same time, he added that trust has been gained over the years. "Russia and people like me are closely watching the materials coming from Armenia, we are watching the election campaign going on. A whole group of MPs of our committee is declared as observers at these elections", he said.
He also informed that in connection with the 30th anniversary of the Spitak earthquake, another Russian delegation will arrive in Armenia. Zatulin expressed the assumption that Nikolay Ryzhkov, who at one time took part in the aftermath of this tragedy, will also be part of the delegation. "We are watching all this, refraining from any public statements and inserts. We do not want anyone to have a reason to say that we intervened, and as a result, someone won or lost. And I would not want put accents who we like and who doesn't", he said.
At the same time, Zatulin stressed that he greatly respects Armenia as an ally, as a faithful country, with which Russia has long-standing historical ties. "For me, Armenia is dear, and not only for me, but for my whole family. My father received his first order of the Red Banner in Hadrut for the elimination of the plague in 1935. We wish Armenia first of all that it be internally stable, that the Armenian people flourish as a result of the political choice that they make. We did not refuse to handshake to anyone of those with whom we cooperate, for us there are no prohibitions to meet with any of the political figures of Armenia, "Zatulin concluded.
