Arrest of Samvel Mayrapetyan, accused of assisting in receiving a  bribe, extended for another two months

ArmInfo.The arrest of the owner of the H2 channel, an entrepreneur Samvel Mayrapetyan, accused of assisting in receiving a bribe, was extended for another two  months.On November 29 a judge of the Yerevan Court of General  Jurisdiction Anna Matevosyan, granted the request of the investigator  of the Special Investigation Service (SIS) of Armenia and extended  the arrest of Mayrapetyan for two months. 

Lawyer of the entrepreneur Karen Batikyan considers the decision of  the court illegal and groundless. The defense of the accused is going  to appeal the decision to the Court of Appeal. Mairapetyan's lawyers  claim that their client suffers from a disease that is incompatible  with arrest.

To recall, on October 9, Samvel Mayrapetyan was charged on the  grounds of Article 38-311 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of  Armenia (assistance in receiving a bribe). Earlier, the Prosecutor  General's Office refused to apply for changing the measure of  restraint of Samvel Mayrapetyan under personal guarantee. As his  lawyers noted, when all domestic legal resources of Armenia are  exhausted, lawyers will appeal to the European Court of Human Rights.  Entrepreneur Samvel Mayrapetyan is considered a person close to  former President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan. He is engaged in the  construction of luxury property, he is the president of the Toyota  Yerevan", company ", he is owner the H2 television station
