Armenian President Armen Sargsyan, who is on an official visit to Germany, visited the land of Saxony-Anhalt.As ArmInfo was told in the press service of the RA President, Sargsyan met in Magdeburg with the Prime Minister of Saxony-Anhalt Rainer Hazelof. The latter stressed that Saxony-Anhalt has close ties with Armenia, and there are already functioning cooperation agreements.
"The agreement signed today will also contribute to the deepening of our cooperation in such areas as science and education," Hazelof said.In turn, Sargsyan stated that Germany makes a significant contribution to world culture. "Armenia and Saxony-Anhalt are good friends. We highly appreciate the existence of the Mesrop center here, which is a small, but very important, our presence in Germany. I am convinced that together we can further deepen our cooperation, since there are good foundations for this" , said the President of Armenia.Sargsyan also invited the physicist Hazelof to visit Armenia, to see one of the world's first observatories with more than 4,000 years of history.The meeting discussed issues related to the expansion of cooperation in the fields of science, education and culture. Sargsyan stressed that Armenia is also interested in environmental issues.
He expressed the conviction that the German experience in the field of "Green Science" would be useful for Armenia.The President of Armenia also visited Otto von Gerike University and familiarized himself with the activities of the laboratories operating in the institution.In the presence of Sargsyan and Hazelov, a cooperation agreement was signed between Yerevan State Medical University and Otto von Gericke University.
