ArmInfo. A delegation led by Deputy Prosecutor General of Armenia David Melkonyan in Brussels took part in the meeting of the platform EU supremacy of the Eastern Partnership law.
As the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office of Armenia told ArmInfo, at the meetings issues of promoting justice in the EaP countries were discussed. In particular, issues related to the place and role of the prosecutor's office in the system of state bodies, guarantees of the independence and accountability of the prosecutor's office, as well as the transparency of the appointment and promotion of prosecutors were discussed.
Melkonyan spoke about the constitutional amendments implemented in Armenia and the existing legal status of the prosecutor's office in the context of the new law "On the Prosecutor's Office", as well as the course of reforms aimed at specifying it. The Deputy Prosecutor General of Armenia noted that the reforms carried out predetermined the development of the prosecutor's office in Armenia, laid a solid foundation for systemic independence and accountability.
The EU representatives expressed their readiness to continue cooperation in the direction of permanent reform of the prosecutor's office.
