ArmInfo. On November 21, the government of Armenia refused to amend the law on ensuring road safety. By this legislative initiative, the RA Police hoped to regulate the rules of conduct for drivers and Traffic Police officers when a vehicle stops a law enforcement officer.
So, according to the new rules proposed by the Armenian Police, after the driver stopped the vehicle at the request of the Police officer, it is not necessary to get out of the car. Moreover, Armenian drivers should get rid of the habit of communicating with patrolmen outside the car. Stopping, you need to stay in the car and open the window to communicate with the patrol.
In turn, the Traffic Police officer is obliged to say hello, clearly introduce himself, and then tell the driver the reason for the stop.
In this case, if, nevertheless, at his own request, the driver left the car, the police officer has the right to request to return to the car. In case of refusal, this action will be considered as disobedience to the legitimate demand of a law enforcement officer.
Nevertheless, Acting Minister of Justice of Armenia, Artak Zeynalyan, spoke out against the bill, arguing that the issue can be resolved within the framework of social advertising, and not a whole legal act. Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan also doubted the reasonableness of the legislative amendments. As a result, the bill was postponed due to its inferiority.
