ArmInfo. The upcoming parliamentary elections in Armenia on December 9 will not become a criterion of democracy in the country, as they will be held in an environment of pathos. This was announced on November 19 during the briefing in the National Assembly by the head of the ARF "Dashnaktsutyun" faction Armen Rustamyan.
The MPstated that in 1990-1991 democratic elections took place in the country, which, however, did not lead to the establishment of democracy in the country. "At the moment, this election is in the hands of the " My step " blocn and they have no need to falsify the elections, however, after 5 years, when the situation changes, and the authorities have concerns about whether they will remain in power, then it becomes clear whether there is true democracy or not in the country", Rustamyan said.
The head of the ARF also stressed that at present the conditions for political forces are unequal, however, of obvious violations and obstacles for other parties are not observed. Rustamyan said that "Dashnaktsutyun" is going to the polls not in order to take a seat in parliament, but in order to declare the position of the ARF. "What is happening now reminds me of the 90s, when inexperienced politicians came to power in the country. It's unclear who will be in the new parliament; moreover, it's unclear how they will lead the country now a lot of uncertainty. We are ready to defend their positions in the new parliament ", the MP concluded. In turn, the head of the faction of the Republican Party Vahram Baghdasaryan noted that holding elections during the euphoria is wrong. "Citizens of the country should evaluate the work of the government, and we should give it the opportunity to work a year. The government made many promises and in a year we could sum up what was done and what was not", the RPA head said. He also stated that the strategy of the RPA in the elections will be constructive. As for the possibility of the Republican Party holding campaign rallies, then, as the deputy noted, since there is very little time left for the election campaign, there will be no rallies, and the focus will be on public speaking and cooperation with the media. In turn, the secretary of the ''Tsarukyan bloc'' faction, Vahe Enfiajyan, said that the ''Prosperous Armenia'' party had prepared a very interesting strategy. The party has good ideas and approaches, which will soon be presented to the public. "I believe that it is now wrong to make statements about who we intend to be, the government or the opposition. Our voters will decide this and we will make any decision of them>, the secretary of the ''Tsarukyan bloc'' faction said. He noted that if the party becomes an opposition, he will act in a constructive way. To the question whether the party is ready "Prosperous Armenia" to create a coalition with the "My Step" bloc, Enfiajyan noted that the political council is taking a similar decision. "If after the elections we receive a similar proposal, the political council will discuss it", the MP concluded. To note, the early parliamentary elections will be held on December 9, 2018. The pre-election campaign will start on November 26 and will last until December 7. Eleven political forces will take part in the elections from which 9 parties and 2 blocs.
