ArmInfo.American weapons are much more expensive than their Russian counterparts. The candidate of sociological sciences, a member of the Eurasian expert club Samvel Manukyan said this at a press conference, referring to the statement of Trump's national security adviser John Bolton about the possible sale of weapons to Armenia and Azerbaijan after the cancellation of the 907 amendment.
At the same time, the expert noted that Russia donated $ 1 billion worth of weapons to Armenia. "It's not customary to say this, but it is. Maybe the US will donate weapons to Armenia if they want the republic to use American weapons," the expert said.
In turn, the director of the Noravank scientific and educational foundation, political scientist Gagik Harutyunyan noted that when buying a weapon, a country must first learn how it corresponds to its security system. "That is, the possible purchase of American weapons by Armenia depends not only on political, but also technical components, since the republic's security system is more in tune with Russian standards," said Harutyunyan, noting that Armenia is still using Western weapons.
Note that during his visit to the region, Bolton announced a possible cancellation of 907 amendments prohibiting the US from selling weapons to Azerbaijan as a conflicting country. At the same time, he noted that Armenia is free in its choice of purchasing weapons. The leadership of Armenia did not give a concrete answer to this statement of Bolton.
