ArmInfo. On November 15, the Government of Armenia rejected the bill of MP from the Tsarukyan bloc Tigran Urikhanyan to ban same-sex marriages
According to the Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Arsen Manukyan, the "taboo" for same-sex marriage is fixed at the level of art. The 35th Constitution of Armenia, which states that marriage is a union between a man and a woman.
The same is written in article 10 of the Family Code. Given this, the Cabinet decided to reject the document, since this provision is already governed by the legislation of the republic.
However, Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, in order to avoid speculation, wondered what would happen if suddenly two men or two women come to the registrar and wish to consolidate their union. "Is there any possibility of such a marriage being registered'' , he asked. In response, Manukyan, referring to the constitutional norm, categorically excluded this possibility.
