ArmInfo. Armenian students will have the right to pay tuition in higher educational institutions of the country by installments. The parliament of the country at the plenary session on November 15 discussed the legislative initiative of the chairman of the standing committee of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia on science, education, culture, youth and sports, MP Tigran Urikhanyan, who introduced amendments to the Education Act in the first reading.
According to the MP, the bill proposes, in particular, to allow university students to pay tuition fees on a monthly basis. At present, universities require payment from the beginning of the school year, or, according to students, in two stages from the beginning of the semester, which creates great difficulties for students and their parents. At the same time, as Tigran Urikhanyan noted, no one forbids students and their parents to pay the full amount from the beginning of the school year.
At the same time, the Acting Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Armenia Hovhannes Hovhannisyan noted that the RA government issued a positive opinion on the submitted document. Until today, as note Acting Deputy Minister, mechanisms were used to defer tuition payments, which were based on personal requests and statements from students. But with the adoption of the law, there will be no need for excessive document flow. However, as Hovhannes Hovhannisyan stressed, the application of amendments for universities is associated with problems related to accounting, but these problems are solvable.
To note, the vote on the bill is expected to take place on November 16.
