The European Union, the governments of Germany, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and Sweden will financially support the holding of extraordinary parliamentary elections in Armenia on December 9. On November 14 in Yerevan, an official start was given to the program "Support of electoral processes in Armenia".
According to the Acting First Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan, the goal of the program is to ensure fair, free and transparent extraordinary parliamentary elections in Armenia.
In the long term, it is also aimed at strengthening the capabilities of electoral bodies, the establishment of democratic electoral processes in Armenia.
The document was signed by Acting First Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan, , Head of the EU Delegation to Armenia, Ambassador Piotr Switalski, Ambassadors of Germany, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Armenia, Swedish Charge d'affaires to Armenia, UN Resident Coordinator to Armenia. The Government of Armenia, the EU, Germany, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and Sweden fund the ''Support to electoral processes in Armenia''program.
They will respectively allocate $ 0.7 million, 1.5 million euros, 0.7 million euros, 0.5 million pounds sterling and 1.5 million Swedish crowns. For financial support, the Cabinet of Ministers of Armenia turned to European countries. Financial support will be mainly aimed at technical support of the elections and increasing the level of electoral literacy of citizens.
