ArmInfo.As a result of the work of the parliamentary commission of inquiry set up to study the feasibility of gas and electricity tariffs, all prerequisites have been created for reducing tariffs for final consumers in Armenia. The head of the commission of inquiry, Vice Speaker Mikael Melkumyan stated this in parliament.
According to him, as a result of the commission's activities, bloated expenses of energy companies and unjustified losses were revealed. As a result of identifying and eradicating these phenomena, it will be possible to reduce tariffs. "More detailed information about what resources will be possible to reduce tariffs, members of the commission will tell next week during a press conference," said the vice-speaker.
"I hope that starting February 1, 2019, Armenian consumers will receive electricity at lower tariffs," Melkumyan said, assuring that the acting president. Minister of Energy Infrastructures and Natural Resources of the Republic of Armenia and the government agreed with the commission's arguments.
