ArmInfo. The LGBT forum will not be held in Armenia, police chief Valery Osipyan told reporters on November 6.
"There will not be a forum in Armenia, because I don't think that at the moment its holding in our country is inexpedient taking into account risks and security issues," Osipyan said. As the head of the Police pointed out, the law enforcement officers conducted explanatory work to prevent this forum from taking place in Armenia. "Everyone saw what happened in Georgia, and we do not exclude a similar opportunity in Armenia, despite the fact that the police are ready for various events and can hold them at a high level," he said. At the same time, as Osipyan stressed, the Police are ready to hold not only this, but also any event. To note, the LGBT Christian Forum in Yerevan is scheduled for November 15-18. According to the organizer of the forum, the president of the New Generation NGO Sergey Gabrielyan, the event will be held without "noise and dust." "The forum will be held exclusively in the form of a closed discussion, including for representatives of the media, any video shooting will also be banned," he said, adding that a gay parade or any other mass event is not provided, there will not be even rainbow flags. According to him, 40 people will take part in the discussion, who, in an atmosphere of "love and solidarity", will talk about the problems of the LGBT community and try to find their solutions. The Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II, various socio-political organizations, have already spoken against holding a forum for LGBT Christians in Yerevan. Today, also intends to rally-protest against this event.
