ArmInfo. On October 31, Deputy President of the National Assembly Mikael Melkumyan received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to Armenia Sergey Kopyrkin.
As the press service of the parliament reports, during the meeting internal political issues, electoral processes, the development of the Armenian economy, the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and other problems were affected.
The importance of improving and developing economic cooperation between Armenia and Russia was mutually emphasized.
At the request of the guest, Melkumyan presented the procedure of the planned parliamentary elections, expressed regret that the reformed Electoral Code of Armenia was not adopted as compared with the current code this is a step forward.
The Deputy President of NA also addressed the work of the Investigation Commission of the National Assembly headed by him to study the activities of the gas and electricity supply and distribution systems, the validity of the existing gas and electricity tariffs, and presented a number of problems in this area.
The Deputy President of NA noted that several provisions of the interstate agreement between Armenia and Russia signed in December 2013, regulating bilateral relations in the gas and energy sectors, limit the effectiveness of the tariff policy.
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation inquired about the final results of the activities of the Investigation Commission of the Parliament. The Deputy President of NA said that upon completion of the work, a report would be submitted to the Parliament and the full text sent to the heads of the relevant bodies.
