Acting Minister of Defense: It is extremely important to form a  military elite in Armenia

ArmInfo. Acting Minister of Defense David Tonoyan yesterday, presented the new Head of the National Military Research University of the Ministry of Defense of  Armenia, Major General Gennady Tavaratsyan to the staff. This was  reported to ArmInfo by the press service of the defense ministry.

According to the source, the Acting Minister of Defense expressed his  gratitude to the former Head, General-Lieutenant Hayk Kotanjyan,  noting his contribution to army building, the founding and  development of the university. Presenting the new Head, David Tonoyan  stressed that Gennady Tavaratsyan was a professional who had gone  through a military career and a soldier who held high positions in  the country's armed forces. In his speech, the head of the defense  ministry highlighted a number of priorities and the most important  areas in the university's activities, including the development of  military education, increasing the effectiveness of research,  strengthening ties with the General Staff, and developing training  manuals. David Tonoyan stressed that the formation of a military  elite in Armenia is extremely important, which is possible by  creating a national basic military educational environment.  The  national military elite must become a sovereign monopoly, and this  elite, in turn, must become a guarantee of sovereignty. According to  David Tonoyan, the military elite formed precisely at the expense of  national sovereignty can protect the national identity and security  of the homeland.

To recall, on October 27, Armenian President Armen Sarkissian signed  a decree appointing Gennady Tavaratsyan head of the National Military  Research University.
