Vardan Toghanyan: There are no historical patterns in the  Armenian-Russian relations and there can not be any

The level of the Armenian-Russian relations in no way depends on the internal political situation that has been developing recently in Armenia.  Armenian Ambassador to Russia Vardan Toghanyan stated on the air of  ''Echo of Moscow'', referring to the current level of relations  between the two countries.

"I think that the current level of our relations with Russia does not  differ from yesterday's level, from that which we managed to  establish after the collapse of the USSR. This is a strategic level  of relations that covers all aspects of our partnership. This is a  military-technical, military - political, high level of mutual  relations, both at the bilateral and multilateral level within the  framework of the integration processes, which we and Russia enter  within the framework of the Eurasian Union, the Collective Security  Treaty Organization. And, of course, the whole range of cultural and  humanitarian ties, which has a long history, "the Armenian diplomat  said.

Answering the question whether there are some historical patterns in  these relations, which were spoken about by the adviser to the  president of the United States on national security, John Bolton,  Toghanyan said he did not know what meaning the adviser to the US  president put in the political, historical complexes that he  mentioned. "But, in any case, if you look back, I don't think that  these words related somehow to the Armenian-Russian relations. Maybe  they did, after all, and most of all to our relations with our  neighbors, because, he also spoke about the possibility of opening  the Armenian-Turkish border in his interview. He spoke about this,  but as you said, there are no historical patterns in our relations  with Russia and there cannot be any, because our relations have  developed over the years fruitful and they are based on the basis of  common interests, historical traditions, which proceed from national  interests.
