ArmInfo. The parliamentary majority of the National Assembly of Armenia, represented by the Republican Party, failed another attempt by the government and a group of Mps from the ''Tsarukyan'' Bloc and ''Yelk'' factions to amend the Electoral Code and the package of related laws. 62 MPs voted for of the constitutional law, 2 MPs voted "against" and no one was "abstaining".
Meanwhile, as noted by the Deputy President of the National Assembly of Armenia, Arpine Hovhannisyan, for the adoption of the document are necessary at least 3/5 of the votes of the MPs.
To note on October 22 at the extraordinary meeting of the National Assembly of Armenia the draft also did not receive the necessary number of votes. In favor of the document submitted then by the government, only 56 MPs voted ''for'' and three voted "against". This time, the ''Tsarukyan'' bloc and ''Yelk' factions were the initiators of the amendments. Thus, given the limited time frame, the upcoming extraordinary parliamentary elections are likely to take place in accordance with the requirements of the current Electoral Code.
