ArmInfo. During the first 9 months of 2018, 327 cases of illegal deforestation were identified by law enforcement agencies of the Tavush region of Armenia.
As the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office told ArmInfo that in 102 cases criminal cases were initiated, the damage to the state amounted to 195,238,922 AMD.
The Prosecutor General's Office for comparison reported that in the same period of 2017 there were 94 such cases, 25 of them were prosecuted - the damage amounted to 34,086,560 drams.
The ministry also said that for 9 months of the current year, according to the materials being prepared on illegal deforestation, the damage to the state was 12,872,346 AMD; meanwhile, in the same period of last year this sum was only 5,123,028 drams. "This year, the damage in the amount of 5.399.529 drams was voluntarily recovered, last year the amount was 1.328.656 AMD. 10 criminal cases under investigation against 13 persons were sent to the court of general jurisdiction of the Tavush region of RA, damage to the state in these criminal cases amounted to 8.946.920 AMD, of which 3,212,500 AMDwere restored at the investigation stage, another 2,582,500AMD at the trial stage, "the Ministry statement reads.
