ArmInfo. The Investigation Committee of Armenia refused to recognize Robert Kocharyan as a victim in the criminal case about the wiretapping of a telephone conversation between the heads of the National Security Service and the Special Investigation Service of the Republic of Armenia.
According to the statement of the representative of the 2nd President Robert Kocharyan - Hovhannes Khudoyan, the Investigative Committee of Armenia rejected his application for granting the procedural status of the victim to Kocharyan. "The petition was filed with the Investigative Committee, taking into account the fact that the content of the public record contains data confirming the fact of taking actions aimed at unlawfully restricting the freedom of Robert Kocharyan," the lawyer said. The investigative body rejected the petition, citing the fact that "following the results of the investigative and procedural actions taken by the Investigative Committee, no preliminary data on the interference with the court's activities were revealed during the preliminary investigation". The representative of the interests of Robert Kocharyan intends to appeal the decision of the IC to the Prosecutor General's Office.
Earlier it was reported that the lawyer of the second president of Armenia Robert Kocharyan Hovhannes Khudoyan, in a criminal case about wiretapping a telephone conversation between the heads of the National Security Service and the SIS, submitted a petition for granting Kocharyan legal status of the victim. "I think the recognition of the procedural status will be legitimate, and the rejection will call into question the objectivity of the preliminary investigation", Khudoyan stated. To note, on October 1, a record of the wiretap of the conversation between the heads of the National Security Service and the SIS appeared in the network, during which they discussed the case on March 1, 2008, and in this context the need to arrest Robert Kocharyan. The head of the National Security Service, Artur Vanetsyan, said that the orderers and performers of the wiretapping were already identified, they are from Armenia, and are widely known to the public. At the same time, he stressed that documenting their guilt at this stage will be very difficult, almost impossible.
