ArmInfo. Acting Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan called the Syunik region of the country a pivotal one, which is strategic and deserves special attention. During today's working trip to the South-East of Armenia, the head of the government stressed that the government is well aware of the difficulties faced by the population of the region and spoke about the projects that the government is preparing to better the lot of the working person.
Pashinyan informed about the preparation of projects for the provision of agricultural machinery on affordable leasing, about plans to set up land cooperatives in order to increase the efficiency of agricultural production. He stressed the importance of implementing plans to modernize the irrigation system and anti- hail facilities.
Pashinyan met with the newly appointed governor of the Syunik region Hunan Pogosyan. In his speech to the staff of the regional administration, Pashinyan stressed that the country is rapidly preparing for new parliamentary elections. In this connection, he stressed the importance of completing the post-revolutionary period of a non-violent velvet national revolution with a simultaneous increase in the level of effectiveness of the work of the state administration.
Acting Prime Minister noted that drug trafficking cases are often recorded in Syunik. Some of the drugs come from Armenia, some remain in the country, which jeopardizes its reputation. According to him, it is naive to think that only foreigners are involved in this crime. It is important to eliminate the transit route of drugs through the Syunik region.
