ArmInfo. The holding of early parliamentary elections in the country may lead to the establishment of a political monopoly. This opinion was expressed by the second President of Armenia, Robert Kocharyan.
"In tactical terms, this is a clear line of behavior - to succeed now, as if at the peak of popularity. In strategic terms, I see problems, that is, how you win a politician, and as a statesman you have to think whether it was worth it now," - Kocharyan told RIA Novosti.
According to him, "full power is also full responsibility." "Therefore, my point of view is that a certain stage is ending, for everyone it is a kind of restart, that is, a new power will be formed that will reflect the current mood in society, this power should be fully responsible for everything that happens in the country from now on"- Kocharyan emphasized.
According to the former President, this "will be a one-sided parliament, a new political monopoly." Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan resigned on Tuesday, so he looks forward to the possibility of holding early parliamentary elections. After the resignation of the Prime Minister, the parliament will be dissolved if it does not elect a new head of government twice within 14 days. In accordance with the Constitution of Armenia, early elections to the National Assembly are held no earlier than 30 and no later than 45 days after the dissolution of the parliament. In the parliament of the current convocation, 51 mandates belong to the former ruling Republican Party of Armenia, 31 - to the Tsarukyan bloc, which is headed by major entrepreneur Gagik Tsarukyan. The "Elk" bloc (Exodus), headed by the prime minister, owns nine mandates, and the Dashnaktsutyun party also owns a family.
